A renovated A-frame on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, set deep in the pines. Inside: a full-height stone fireplace, spiral steel staircase to the master loft, sage green kitchen with walnut island, designer steam shower, and cedar vanity. Walnut ski lockers at the entry. National forest trailheads and Diamond Peak ski lifts steps away.
Clip in and ski out. Diamond Peak opens at 9 — you're on the mountain before the crowds even park.
Ski home, heat up the kitchen, make lunch with the peaks visible through the windows.
Lace up and take the national forest trails into the trees. Snowshoe in winter or run the packed powder.
The alpine sky at Tahoe is something. Soak in the hot tub while the temperatures drop and the stars come out.
"Our family of four had an amazing stay at the Backcountry Chalet in Incline Village. The house itself is gorgeous — recently remodeled with thoughtful detail in all the rooms. The bedrooms were comfortable and having a downstairs and upstairs living room gave everyone space to spread out. The views from the house are amazing and felt very private. It snowed quite a bit while we were there and someone came to shovel the driveway early each morning — an unexpected but deeply appreciated extra service. The kitchen is thoughtfully designed, fully stocked, and a joy to cook in. Matt and Hayley were excellent hosts."
"The spiral staircase, the cedar ceilings, the ski lockers right at the door — every detail is considered. Woke up to fresh snow and skied out within minutes. This is easily one of the best properties we've ever stayed in, and we travel often."
